In 1926 Josef Braun, a machinist, founded the Ziegelmundstückbau Braun company in Kluftern, Germany. Because of his extensive experience as a manager in a number of brickworks, this very dedicated brick maker laid the foundations for comprehensive customer service within the ceramic industry.
Despite serious reversals brought about by the Second World War, Josef Braun had the strength to rebuild his business. This meant that relationships with customers could be maintained. In 1964 his grandson Horst Rank joined the company and has been managing it ever since.
In 1972 the company moved from the Bahnhofstrasse in Kluftern to their present site on the Markdorfer Strasse. This allowed the company to expand considerably, as could be seen in the steady increase of employees.
The product and market areas of the company also expanded. The divisions of technical ceramics, subcontracted processing and flame cutting were added to the classic division of dies for the heavy clay industry.
In 1982 the branch in Stahringen at the western end of Lake Constance was added, where flame cut parts and welded constructions were produced. Since1998 there have been 8 halls on the Markdorfer Strasse site in Kluftern, so that all the divisions are now combined on one site. This meant that the Stahringen site was moved to Kluftern.
